Questions....

It's been awhile....
I have been busy traveling, hosting my sister's bridal shower, and then recooperating from being gone for a week.

We are in the midst of a few major decisions.  I get completely overwhelmed at times.  You think you know how your life is going to play out....you think.  I've always been a fan of God knocking my socks off with good surprises.   But I struggle with God knocking my socks off with things that I just wasn't expecting and that end up taking me out of my comfort zone.  I know that he is always working for my good, and stretching me an molding me, but sometimes the stretching just plain 'ole hurts.

Whenever I am feeling overwhelmed and I need a reality check, I like to just dwell and meditate on all the rhetorical questions that God asks in the Bible.

Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?
   Tell me, if you understand.

Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know!
Who stretched a measuring line across it?

On what were its footings set,
   or who laid its cornerstone—
while the morning stars sang together
and all the angels shouted for joy?

Who shut up the sea behind doors
when it burst forth from the womb,
when I made the clouds its garment
and wrapped it in thick darkness,
when I fixed limits for it
and set its doors and bars in place,
 when I said, ‘This far you may come and no farther;
here is where your proud waves halt’?

“Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea
or walked in the recesses of the deep?
Have the gates of death been shown to you?
Have you seen the gates of the deepest darkness?
Have you comprehended the vast expanses of the earth?
Tell me, if you know all this.

What is the way to the place where the lightning is dispersed,
or the place where the east winds are scattered over the earth?
Who cuts a channel for the torrents of rain,
and a path for the thunderstorm,
to water a land where no one lives,
   an uninhabited desert,
 to satisfy a desolate wasteland
and make it sprout with grass?
Does the rain have a father?
Who fathers the drops of dew?
From whose womb comes the ice?
Who gives birth to the frost from the heavens
when the waters become hard as stone,
when the surface of the deep is frozen?

Pleiades
“Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades?
   Can you loosen Orion’s belt?
Can you bring forth the constellations in their seasons
or lead out the Bear with its cubs?
Do you know the laws of the heavens?
Can you set up God’s dominion over the earth?

“Can you raise your voice to the clouds
and cover yourself with a flood of water?
Do you send the lightning bolts on their way?
Do they report to you, ‘Here we are’?
 Who gives the ibis wisdom
   or gives the rooster understanding?
Who has the wisdom to count the clouds?
Who can tip over the water jars of the heavens
 when the dust becomes hard
and the clods of earth stick together?

“Do you hunt the prey for the lioness
and satisfy the hunger of the lions
when they crouch in their dens
or lie in wait in a thicket?
Who provides food for the raven
when its young cry out to God
and wander about for lack of food?

And then also the questions Isaiah asks in chapter 40 of his book...

Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand,
or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens?

Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket,
or weighed the mountains on the scales
and the hills in a balance?

Who can fathom the Spirit of the LORD,
or instruct the LORD as his counselor?

Whom did the LORD consult to enlighten him,
and who taught him the right way?

Who was it that taught him knowledge,
or showed him the path of understanding?

Yup.  I am small.  He is indescribable.   Praise God!

Yes.....Yes I Did

I have a thing for cute coffee shops.  It is a life dream of mine to someday own one.  So... whenever I'm in a new place I scout out the town for a family owned coffee shop.

I was visiting my friend Raven in Summerville, SC last week. (She and her family use to be our neighbors, but then moved :(  We miss them dearly).
The "old town" section of Summerville is super cute with many cute little boutiques and restaurants.   As we were walking around I saw a cute coffee shop called ....

I knew I had to stop back after lunch to get something.

Raven, Claire and I had lunch and then I needed to start heading home, but not before I stopped into Single Smile Cafe.

As we were walking in, the "Specials" chalkboard caught my eye. Now, for any of you that know me, you know that I am a HUGE fan of bacon!
I've tried chocolate covered bacon,
I've tried bacon flavored sunflower seeds
I've tried bacon flavored jelly beans
I've tried all sorts of bacon,
 and it never disappoints.
Never in my life would I have imagined a

BACON LATTE!!!

This was like a dream.... my two favorite things in the world rolled into one!
I stepped right into the cafe with a spring in my step. I was a little skeptical though about how it would taste. I went up to the counter and asked,
"How is the bacon latte?"
The cute little Asian woman behind the counter told me that people loved it! I asked if I could try a little sip before I ordered a whole cup of it.  She said that I would have to order a small.
Ugh....did I want to waste my money on something I wasn't sure was going to be good.
I ended up going with the safe bet of ordering a Caramel Macchiato... my drink of choice.

The ladies and I then had a seat at this huge table.  We were chatting it up when suddenly.....

I hear Raven say,
"Oh look!"

As I turned my head to the left, there was like what seemed to be a beam of light from heaven.  The little Asian lady was walking toward me me a small little espresso shot glass filled with the Bacon Latte.
She said, "Here you go....Bacon Latte!"

I was grateful.
Extremely grateful.
Over the top grateful.
The first thing I did was smell it... and sure enough it smelled like smokey bacon. Then I took a pic of it. And then.....I tasted it.

OH.MY.LANDS.....

Pure genius!  It was absolutely the most amazing taste that has ever crossed my palate.  I had Raven taste it, and she agreed that it was really good.
I have no idea how they made it, but I can't say enough about it.  So... if you are ever in Summerville, SC make it a point to stop at
